Mobile satellite communication station – FORD Transit

There is a digital satellite newsgathering for direct television broadcasts from the field in the MPEG-4 SD/HD, DVB-S and DVB-S2.

Mobile satellite communication station is designed to organize live television broadcasts from the fields, implemented on the basis of Ford Transit vehicle with a diesel engine.

This project based on Ford Transit 2.2-litre diesel engine.
Despite short-base there are all necessary for comfortable work of 2 people.

Product Description

Work zone:

  • The working area is completely heat-, sound-, vibration- isolated
  • The walls and floor of the car are covered with wear proof and antistatic materials
  • The car interior has 2 swivel seats with 3-point seat belts for safety passenger transport
  • There are two 19’ rack mount bays. The Honda i30 generator is placed in a specially designed recess in the rear part of the car. It doesn’t require movement, the car exhaust clear off through the special pipes.


The fully motorized antenna was selected as the satellite system with 1.2 meters in diameter (ProSat SDO120) operating in Ku-band and augmented by the solid-state amplifier Advantech 50W.
The encoder-modulator AVP3000 Voyager by Ericsson is equipped with encoding options 4:2:2 and H.264. The receiving box is Ericsson RX8200.

A unique feature of this car is a telescopic cable mast with electric drive. The HDPTZ camcorder CanonBU-47H is mounted in the mast. This camera is capable of panorama shooting from a height of 6 meters above the ground.  3x 1/3” CMOS 1.6 MP matrix circuit, 18-fold zoom, focal distance from 4.1 to 73,8 mm, mechanical wiper and remote control make it possible to use this camera in any weather for a variety of filming.

The switching function is implemented by Evertz low-noise chassis with matrix switcher 16×16 HD/SD-SDI and multi-image processor with 8 inputs.

The main editor’s working tool is a multiformat video switcher by Panasonic. The Tektronix rasterizer with LCD-monitors is used as testing device. The write/read function is provided by a server Sony XDS-PD1000 with 1TB of solid-state memory.

Also the car is equipped with the multi-interface router PepWave MAX-700 with the function of connections bonding into a single data transmission link which allows you to have access to the Internet regardless of your location.
